History of Marijuana Prohibition
(In 1937, Congress passed the Marihuana Tax Act, which levied a "prohibitive" tax of $100 an ounce for transfer to an unregistered person, effectively making sale or possession of marijuana a federal crime. Part one of this condensation of The Marijuana Conviction describes how the Marihuana Tax Act came to be).

Best Weed Processing Accessories
Every red-blooded, weed-smoking American runs into the same problem before rolling a joint or filling a pipe from a new stash: 'How am I going to clean this stuff?' Cleaning methods vary in the speed and efficiency with which they work and in the final texture of the cleaned dope. Whatever method you find best suits your desires, it is important to remember two things about grass. Firstly, you shouldn't manicure your dope until right before you're going to smoke it, because marijuana quickly loses its potency once it's cleaned. Secondly, if you're planning to use your seeds for planting, be careful that they don't get bruised in the cleaning process, since bruised seeds won't be able to germinate.

Oaxacan Marijuana
During the late 20th century, a little known weed became the preferred intoxicant of millions. Stifled considerably by a criminal setting, the flow of factual information about pot was supplanted by myth and folk tradition rather than empirical evidence. Even the underground is not without its Madison Avenue counterparts. Consequently, the bottom line for the lid buyer is that his purchase is likely to be as much hype as hemp. After all, how is someone from Colby, Kansas, supposed to know with any certainty his pot is Oaxacan, Acapulco Gold, or Michoacan or that one should be better than another? There are indeed a few general guidelines, but claims that the exact origin of the marijuana can be judged by eyeballing it or some by a ritualistic smoking technique are balderdash. An experienced smoker can, however, differentiate easily between South American, Asian, or Mexican varieties, and within those varieties there are some strains that stand out for their quality.

Do Stoners Make Better Students?
The effects of marijuana on grades? For the many years it has been reliably reported from scientist after scientist that marijuana has definite, and often dramatic effects on the thinking process. It may not be physically damaging, but can a student study economic theory through the plexiglass-solid high from sinsemilla buds? Maybe a zen master can, but aside from the raja yoga students and the other mind-control heavies, who's going to make it through organic chemistry when the hash hits town? The connection between marijuana use and poor school performance has always been assumed by most educators; chronic marijuana users all dropped out and became street sweepers. Isn't it obvious?

Ishmael Reed's Civil War Slavery Novel 'Flight To Canada'
In an era where racial tensions have risen and the country seems more divided than it has been since the 1960's on issues of racial divide, immigration and the lost white middle class, Flight to Canada seems as relevant today as it did when first published. We are living in a world of a counter culture renaissance. Most importantly the biggest counter cultural issue of the early 21st century is the legalization of marijuana.

Mushrooms of Palenque
The ancient Mayas, Aztecs and pre Columbian inhabitants of Central and South America worshipped divine power in the cult of the sacred mushroom. Their word for the hallucinogenic variety. “teonanacatl,” translates to “god's flesh.” This apparent reference to an alternative form of holy communion profoundly offended the Catholic priests who came to the “new world" with the Spanish Conquistadores. They went to great lengths to suppress mushroom worship among the natives and completely destroyed those cults which worshipped the mushroom as a fertility symbol.

Rules of Weed Etiquette
Years ago only a small clique of degenerates smoked marijuana. Now smoke rises from all segments of society. Once the exclusive delight of musicians and lower criminal classes, marijuana is now enjoyed by everyone and their mother. Seriously, ask your mother if she smokes weed, you might be surprised.
