Donald Trump's Reaction to Charlottesville Is No Surprise
Charlottesville and Trump — it’s my turn to finally weigh in. Of course, no Charlottesville was necessary to figure out where the President resides on issues of race, equality, and decency.

As someone who has not been the biggest fan of the current United States president, I get how easy it is to go after Donald Trump’s policies and really, his overall approach to the presidency as a whole. Perhaps one of the most shocking moments of his eight months in office—beyond his apparent support of neo-Nazis and white supremacists as a whole, it seems—is when he admitted that the job of president was far more difficult than he thought it would be. Let’s face it—excoriating Donald Trump for being the pompous, apparently bigoted politician that he is has become easy in no small part due to his unabated tweeting everything from the Saturday Night Live sketches he doesn’t like to policies he’s decided to implement via Twitter.
Christina St-JeanPublished 7 years ago in The SwampDear Donald, How Are You Helping Americans?
Dear Donald, Since you've become president in January of 2017, you have turned our nation upside down. You have managed to destroy everything that Obama put into place and made our country a laughing stock. In your eyes, you obviously feel that you're one of the best presidents to lead America. However, you are an utter embarrassment and have made our country look extremely uneducated.
Jessica HerringPublished 7 years ago in The SwampDear Donald, Are You Making America Great Again?
When you were nominated to be the Republican candidate for the 2016 Presidential race, I was sure that Hillary had won. You were loud, obnoxious, rude and inexperienced. You didn't have a clear platform to stand on. It seemed that you could talk your way out of every question. Every diversion led back to one theme though, that while you didn't have exact plans for how you were going to "Make America Great Again". Well, Mr. Trump, it has been almost eight months since you have become the President of the United States. You sure have done a lot of things, but make America great again? I'm not sure that's one of them.

We're told the secret to good PR is authenticity. To be a great communicator, you have to be true to yourself and speak from the heart. By focusing on authenticity, you can really connect with your audience and build meaningful relationships that are mutually beneficial. Well, as with most advice about communication and leadership, Donald Trump rather confounds that belief.

Another day, another Trump Nazi think piece. One would think that I enjoy writing these, but I don't. Truly I would rather go back to living in my bubble and pretend that this reality star was still terrorizing us for entertainment value and not as leader of the Free World. Seriously Republicans, what does he have to do before you get off your asses and start putting country over party? Will it take him attempting a coup of our country before you do anything? Coming out and saying he should have said something is not going far enough. There have to be consequences to actions, but so far you have empowered him for his bad behavior. Take, for example, the fact that it took him 48 hours, two whole days, to condemn white supremacist Nazis down South for their actions. 48 freaking hours. If that had been President Obama, you would have been starting impeachment hearings before the violence began. This is not the first time that Trump has refused to rebuke white supremacist/hate groups, though.
Edward AndersonPublished 7 years ago in The Swamp'Refuse Fascism' March
In response to the death of thirty-two-year-old Heather Heyer and the injuring of nineteen other non-violent counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, the outspoken organization known as Refuse Fascism organized a march August 13th in Downtown Chicago, Illinois’ Millennium Park with over five-hundred plus citizens. The protest took statements from concerned and angered Chicagoans that came out to condemn the violence of the Charlottesville riots, murder of an innocent woman and the Trump administration’s indifferent response to the uproar, going so far as to label the administration as the Trump/Pence Regime! Like all too many Americans, the Trump Presidency has continuously chosen not to condemn the actions of the Ku Klux Klan, Neo-Confederate and Neo-Nazi rallies spewing unethical racism and bigotry then try to disguise it as nationalism. The Refuse Fascism march had garnered media attention and support in the past, I myself have participated in many of their rallies in response to police killings, support of building a Civilian Police Accountability Council and especially now demanding the impeachment of the 45th president, Donald Trump.

"Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it." -George Santayana. Yesterday, I went to the Museum of Jewish Heritage Museum, and the similarities of what happened then and what is happening now was not lost on me. A frightened, insecure, child of immigrants somehow convinced a large portion of the voting public that all of their problems could be traced back to immigrants coming into the country. WHAT? Are you kidding me? Somehow the hypocrisy of these men was lost on their respective constituents. Yes, I am making a Trump/Hitler comparison and no I am not sorry for it. I am certain that this piece will lose me friends/fans/work but it needs to be said. The things that Trump has said in regards to Charlottesville and what is happening there is not just racist, it shows his true colors and I don't mean that orange, cheetah dust on his skin.
Edward AndersonPublished 7 years ago in The SwampDear Mr. President, Condemn The Alt-Right
Watching the events in Charlottesville unfold, I've been trying to collect my thoughts. To try and say something worthwhile about the whole mess, even before someone decided to use their car to ram through a crowd of protesters. That it's come to this, in 2017 America, simply boggled my mind.
Matthew KresalPublished 7 years ago in The SwampTrump Says Nation Must Rise Above Hatred Following Charlottesville Tragedy
"We must remember this truth: No matter our color, creed, religion or political party, we are ALL AMERICANS FIRST." These words, from President Donald J. Trump, were tweeted in the wake of the tragedy that continues to unfold in Charlottesville, Virginia. What the president fails to recognize — and continues to fail to see — is that he is encouraging, on an ongoing basis, the hatred that's happening and continues to happen across the nation.
Christina St-JeanPublished 7 years ago in The SwampDear Donald: Please, Go Gently Into That Good Night
Sir, I know you've got five kids and some grandchildren at this point, and while you are incredibly well off, I'm fairly certain you would have at the very least seen a temper tantrum from any one of these individuals. Surely, you wouldn't have been so disconnected from your family that you wouldn't recognize a tantrum when you see one.
Christina St-JeanPublished 7 years ago in The SwampMedia and Leftist Bias is Out of Hand
With everything happening in the news today, it's no wonder that everyone is upset with politicians in general. They don't do a thing they say they will, and they seemingly lie 24/7! There seems to be massive unrest in the ranks when it comes to Donald Trump. The question is why? Why is everyone up in arms about the President of the United States? Why are people comparing him to Richard Nixon and Hitler! Hitler for God sakes! The answer is really quite simple: bias and unfair political and media practices combined with most Americans being unable to think for themselves.
