It seems every time one racially-charged incident ends, a gender or religious controversy takes its place; Ruminate on the issues dividing our nation and world.
War of Ukraine And Russia
I was born and live in a country bordering Russia. Every day I hear about how good life was in Soviet times. Substantially I hear from people of withdrawal age. Youthful people like me no longer remember those times, we grew up on European values. We grew up with Harry Potter and Marvel icons and believe in republic, not illiberalism.

When should a country exist? What determines its borders? How extensive are its powers? Such are the questions that resurface as the world observes with frustrating impotence the Russian attack on Ukraine.
Freedom Convoy
Equality. That word has been tossed back and forth constantly over the last few decades. From women wanting to be paid the same as their male co-workers to racial discrimination. We all strive for equality. When I read this challenge about how to be kind to others and inclusivity the word equality immediately popped into my head. How do I treat people equally though? Everyone is different, everyone has a different story and background. That’s when I realized I have been treating everyone equally. Coming from Canada I was proud to be Canadian I highlight the word “was” because of what recently has been happening in Ottawa. Even the United States have been hearing about the truckers standing up against mandated vaccines. Now, I do not want to be biased but the numbers in the pandemic have been dropping. Truckers for the most part have little contact with people as it is. I always believed that people have a right to stand up for what they believe in. The protest started with truckers driving across Canada to be in front of parliament and parking there over night to protest. It was perfectly peaceful with some honking and cheering with shouts of their rights.

The current Crisis in Ukraine can be explained in many ways. It can be seen as a potential conflict over material values demonstrating that the strong do what they will while the weak suffer what they must. Simultaneously it could be argued that the conflict is stoked by the flames of institutions. NATO being the main institution in question. NATO’s very presence in the Ukraine is causing a major upheaval in the peace in Europe. Russia being outside and opposed to this institution (NATO) is outside the realm of institutional moderation, showing how international institutions are key in maintaining peace but can also be the catalyst of conflict.

It was a cold February day in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital city of Canada. A pair of men on horseback rode down the snowy streets, between rows of transport trucks moored to the ice. The video zoomed in on the second figure, proudly waving his blood-red flag high in the air—and the caption read: "the calvary has arrived".

Heckling at a State of the Union address, teachers quitting in droves because confused parents and students are executing hostile takeovers in the classroom, expertise replaced by uninformed opinion, and conspiracy theories dominating the public discourse — all are traceable to some pivotal historical events.

What we have seen from the past year and a half during this Pandemic is a deterioration of governmental responses to felicitate the general public's ability to survive the onslaught of reoccurring financial and medical losses. It was in May of 2020 that many in congress were in accord to implement financial aid to millions of Americans on a monthly basis for the duration of the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, after almost two years the Biden Administration and congress have done a complete turnaround leaving millions of Americans struggling not only with the resurgence of Covid-19 infections but the inflationary trend on every consumable. The result is putting the economy in grave jeopardy.
Dr. WilliamsPublished 2 years ago in The SwampUprooting an Evil – Ways to Prevent Child Marriage in India
The social evil of child marriage has historical moorings in the Indian context. UNICEF defines child marriage as an informal or formal marriage union between an adult and a child or between two children, typically below 18 years. UN Women opines that child marriage is equivalent to 'forced marriage' as underage children cannot give legally valid consent. In India, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act of 2006 states that child marriage implicates a marriage or a marriage that is going to be solemnized to which of the contracting parties is a child. The definition of child includes girls who are below 18 years and boys who are below 21 years. Despite stringent laws that criminalize and prohibit child marriage in contemporary India, the practice continues with little to no hindrance. As per statistics, one out of three adolescent girls (age group of 15 to 19) is married, and every second married adolescent girl has given birth to a child. It becomes crucial to find ways to prevent child marriage in the country.
