It seems every time one racially-charged incident ends, a gender or religious controversy takes its place; Ruminate on the issues dividing our nation and world.
What Were The Controversies Of The Farm Laws That The Austerity Of The Modi Government Failed?
Taking a big decision on Friday, the Modi government announced to withdraw all three agricultural laws. There was a war between the farmers about the laws, farmers were standing on the borders of Delhi for a year, the roads were closed. Now the decision has been taken to end that disputed chapter itself. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the country at 9 in the morning and as soon as he arrived, he gave the biggest decision of his government.
Samachar Khabar NewsPublished 2 years ago in The SwampNightmare: When Did We Start to Hate One Another?
I wish it were simply a nightmare. At least you can wake up and shake it off. But there is no waking up from the hate that smolders in America. Somewhere in our past, we took a wrong turn, ending up in a dark alley with no way out. How else did we end up with a nation so divided that a significant number of citizens want to break the US up into new countries?

One winter night, ten years ago, when I was pregnant with my first child, we gathered in my in-laws’ house to watch the News. The president, with his styled hair and dewy skin, addressed the people in the local dialect for the first time in his long twenty-three years of rule. He didn’t say ‘I was wrong’. He said, “They misled me”. He claimed not to know that people suffered under his regime because he wasn’t “a sun to shine upon the entire country”.

I shall begin by saying the US should not be the police for the world; if history is any indication, the US continuously fails to correctly police itself after all. We are global citizens as much as we are US citizens- but if we entertain the idea of separate countries, we should accept the certainty of their sovereignty. To that end however, it should be the prerogative of any civilized nation to defeat evil in the various places it arises.

Another step towards making a more informed decision is to learn from similar cases in the past. Like many countries, Canada, Mexico, the UK, and China have all had experience using aggressive emergency procedures in response to pandemic threats, with varying degrees of success.

*Disclaimer: I wrote this article a couple days after Chadwick Boseman's tragic death in 2020. I submitted the piece to the Salt Lake Tribune and it was published in the OP-Ed section a couple weels later. Back then, the COVID19 pandemic was at its peak, creating fear and uncertainty all over the world. I wrote this piece to shed light on the recent events and deaths and to urge others to think about the tragedies happening everyday around us. Although the pandemic seems to be coming to an end, it is still important that we show respect to the lives we lost.

“What is happening in [America] now, is exactly what was happening in Bosnia before the [civil] war…. Hate on this level can only be sustained so long before actually becoming a civil war.” These were the words Bill Maher, comedian and host of Real Time with Bill Maher, heard from his Bosnian driver enroute to an event in Pennsylvania.

The Swastika is one of the oldest religious symbols we have, yet it has received a negative meaning in recent history. It is also one of the most recognized symbols in the world.
Tree LangdonPublished 3 years ago in The SwampMedium Thinks It’s Hateful to Point Out Bigotry Against White People
A little bit of background might be in order considering the title. Racism, and racial violence, are complex issues. And there's a lot of emotion involved. That emotion can sometimes take the form of articles, comments, and so on. Sometimes they can be quite extreme, and too extreme. Some people are indeed full of hate.

Adebayo AdeniranPublished 3 years ago in The SwampWhy Are We Facing a Labor Supply Shortage?
There are many reasons but let’s focus on the top ones. The shutdown of the U.S. economy with lots of stimulus gave workers time to think about what they liked, and disliked about their jobs. The top sector most negatively impacted during the Covid-19 pandemic was Leisure and Hospitality (L&H).
