What’s going on?

Equality. That word has been tossed back and forth constantly over the last few decades. From women wanting to be paid the same as their male co-workers to racial discrimination. We all strive for equality. When I read this challenge about how to be kind to others and inclusivity the word equality immediately popped into my head. How do I treat people equally though? Everyone is different, everyone has a different story and background. That’s when I realized I have been treating everyone equally. Coming from Canada I was proud to be Canadian I highlight the word “was” because of what recently has been happening in Ottawa. Even the United States have been hearing about the truckers standing up against mandated vaccines. Now, I do not want to be biased but the numbers in the pandemic have been dropping. Truckers for the most part have little contact with people as it is. I always believed that people have a right to stand up for what they believe in. The protest started with truckers driving across Canada to be in front of parliament and parking there over night to protest. It was perfectly peaceful with some honking and cheering with shouts of their rights.

Okay, so it’s a little less peaceful and more of Freedom Convoy having what looks to me a good time. Trudeau really messed up, he pulled an emergency act. Why? They were not being violent or anything like that. Everyone has the right to protest there is no law against it (as far as I know). Trudeau refuses to speak to anyone who is taking part in this protest, he has literally walked off the stand when it came to debate this topic. He did not like what he was seeing and pulled the emergency act. Police officers starting arresting protestors and they were willing to cooperate. Numerous of videos and live streams have been posted and the police officers are not off to a great start which is unfortunate. They have trampled a little lady with a walker who is currently in hospital with serious injuries. The police claimed that a bicycle has scared the horse however in video you can’t see it happen.

So you can see what I mean. I just want to be clear that I am not against police authority in any way. However, that being said the protest was peaceful and Trudeau had turned it into something disappointing and disturbing. Trudeau is not hearing his people out. Was he not elected to rule out country? What about our anthem? The land of the free? Where is the freedom you are speaking of? We have a right to protest and the only reason it got out of hand was because Trudeau made it that way. The freedom convoy protestors were willing to step down peacefully but then we see things like the above video and we are supposed to be okay with this? That’s not what Canada stands for, events like this are going to go down in history along with the pandemic and our future children will be learning about this. Trudeau has disgraced himself and comes across as a complete hypocrite he escalated a situation that did not need to be, he froze bank accounts of anyone who donated to the cause.

The emergency act was previously called the war act….

“The War Measures Act (French: Loi sur les mesures de guerre; 5 George V, Chap. 2) was a statute of the Parliament of Canada that provided for the declaration of war, invasion, or insurrection, and the types of emergency measures that could thereby be taken.” Where is the invasion or war here?
