controversies
It seems every time one racially-charged incident ends, a gender or religious controversy takes its place; Ruminate on the issues dividing our nation and world.
No, I Dont Want To Buy Your Black Lives Matter Or Martin Luther King Merchandise.
For years the racial injustice that African Americans have faced has been swept under the rug to be invalidated or ignored. We have been treated like nothing and then slammed for requiring common decency. As time passes and I see the world for what it is I also start seeing that everything that is given to us blacks has been solely to appease us in that time being. There are people who would say black lives matter only to also apply all lives matter in the same breath.

Everything You Need To Know About The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade: What Really Happened?
The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade I’m sure we’re all familiar with the major features of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade: European merchant vessels exchanged manufactured and processed goods for human cargo along the western coasts of Africa. These persons were then sold as laborers to large-scale agricultural producers in South America, Southeastern North America, and the Caribbean in exchange for cash crops, which could then be resold in New England in exchange for the manufactured and processed goods needed to purchase yet more slaves. This is an oversimplified version of a classic ‘triangle trade’, but provides a good general overview of the concept, widely accepted by academics and historians.

How I Felt About Friday
Hey Everyone, My name is Nikolas Taylor. If you are new, and really want to know about me, I am Autistic, Openly Trans, hard of hearing, have ADHD, and Anxiety. If you don't know; now you know. I also am a country artist, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Now I want to address what happened on Friday, and what happened and will happen in the long term. First off, I hate the fact of what happened on Friday. I have no words but one definition if I could name one thing, in one word with what happened on Friday. Terrorism. Not "patriotism", "an exercise of the 1st Amendment". Just the terrible T word. I watched the live new stories. I saw the scared congress members, innocent newscasters, and countless women children, and innocent families who have been unintentionally affected by this satanic behavior that has sadly killed people. I am talking about mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts, and each family that was affected by this domestic attack within our own country. I was convinced that there was also going to be another tragedy that happened in the same area; and I was only eight months when each plan, and one of them struck our nations capital twenty years ago and four months later.

Heal The People
Two years before his death, Martin Luther King wrote a book titled, Where Do We Go From Here, Chaos Or Community. In this intriguing work, Dr. King expressed great sadness that after more than a decade of the Civil Rights Movement, blacks were worse off than they were 10 years before. The plight of Black America today would have left him mortified.

Britain and the 'Good Savage'
It is well documented that Britain does not have a good history with diversity. When I say 'history', I do not mean five or ten years' ago, I mean actual history. Imperialist Britain saw the rise of the Empire and then, the eventual fall. But the strength of the civil vs. savage argument is still there. The point of the Victorian stance was that if the British army went over to these particular countries (Asia, Africa etc.) they would be able to civilise the savages. Since then, there has been discussion of whether this is still going on without explicit movement. This rhetoric of what a 'good' immigrant is whether they be first, second or even third generation - some of the white-British make it clear that though you were born here you will never be one of them.

Britain; in the Age of Brexit...
I have been wondering about this question ever since the referendum stated that Brexit was, of course, going to go ahead. What did these people think that Brexit was? Was it going to be exactly what people voted for or something entirely different altogether? And, at the age I was - I was old enough to vote but probably not smart enough to understand what people who voted 'leave' were actually voting for.

Rioters Storm The US Capitol Building
On January 6th, 2020, as the House of Representatives met to discuss the possible certification of Joe Biden's victory as the 46th President of the United States, a crowd of President Donald Trump's supporters gathered outside the Capitol Building in Washington D.C. Helicopters flew overhead as rioters chanted phrases such as, "Traitors, traitors, traitors!", "We will not submit!" and "USA! USA! USA!". The gatherers were seen climbing into the federal building through a window, climbing the walls and, later, took pictures of themselves in what is believed to be Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's office. The U.S Representatives that were meeting at the time barricaded themselves in the House floor. Republican Representative Ken Buck was quoted in saying during an interview with ABC7 News, "It's hard to believe that this is happening in America". Democratic Senator Joe Manchin informed, also in an interview with ABC7, "We'll get this job done."

The Argument Against Free Speech
“Somewhere in America there is a child sitting at his mother’s computer reading the homepage of the KKK’s website - and that’s open to the public - but that child will have never read To Kill A Mockingbird because his school has banned it for its use of the ‘N’ word”.
