Sewing, Stilts and too many pairs of Scissors
As I grew up I didn’t want many toys. This was very lucky. Instead my Dad built my sister and I, a making bench. One day he came in and put a sewing machine down on the bench. He said, “Here you go Em. This little lever goes up and down, and you put the fabric in here. Then put your foot on the pedal, don’t go too fast and don’t, whatever you do, get your fingers caught” I may have been about ten years old. For the last 40 years I have been so busy with sewing that I haven’t even had time to do a proper sewing course. From the start, this was my tool.

My most inspired project was repurposing a pair of jeans into a full-sleeved jean jacket. It was the summer of 2012. I found one of my brother's jeans, he had lost some weight and this particular pair of jeans were too big for him. It looked like a decent pair of jeans and I didn't have the heart to throw it out. It's neither economical nor good for the environment.

The Gaudy Life
Living the Gaudy Life Why is it that modern society gravitates toward mundane fashion choices such as hoodies and jeans even after centuries of luxurious fashion breakthroughs? What has happened to the ornate bedazzlement of everyday clothing that has pronounced historical fashion?

What to Wear to a Pandemic
I have one outfit for the pandemic: my pjs - bubble-gum pink flowers floating across electric-blue flannel. I watch a lot of movies in them, and these days I take special pleasure in noting costume design. Take a break from sweat pants and lockdown with these filmic wonders -
Marie WilsonPublished 3 years ago in Styled Who in the World is Candace Kita and What Does She Know About "Shopatainment" on Sway TV?
If you’ve never heard of “Shopatainment”, you’re already behind the curve. This new-ish medium on Amazon Live combines online shopping and, you guessed it, a bevy of entertainment. Think Amazon meets The Home Shopping Network. Or, imagine if Amazon and QVC had a baby; Amazon Live would be born. Basically, get ready to be amused for hours on end while you shop til you drop. (Or at least, that’s the intent).
Why The Costumes in Bridgerton Suck
Background on Bridgerton: A period drama set in 1813 London. The clothing is worn by British people in mostly English and some french styles, as was fashionable. The costume designer is Ellen Mirojnick, who stated her intention wasn’t historical accuracy, but that she was putting her own spin on regency dress to convey the character and story in a way that made sense. It is true that the entire plot and contents of the Bridgerton story isn’t historically accurate, so I presume that the costumes were just one more thing done wrong.
Jules MonfortPublished 3 years ago in StyledMovies To Inspire Your RED DRESS Moment
Here's the thing about Red, ALL seasons love red. Whether it's against white snow, green grass, a Spring rain or a breezy beach, the color red pops against a dramatic landscape and makes you the center of attention. Lucky you if you get a storm or a cloudy day because RED looks fabulous in gloomy weather and makes for dramatic, memorable pictures. Even at night. Here are some of my favorite movies that feature memorable red dresses. Whether you're planning a special date or planning your wedding, these movies will inspire your very own red dress or RED TUX moment.
Mary JacksonPublished 3 years ago in StyledWhen were fatpants banned?
I was a major raver in the late 90's into the early 2000's, and quickly lost interest once I cleaned up from the cornacopia of drugs necessary to handle large groups of people. I must admit though, I do miss the never ending nights dancing with unlimited energy and massage trains. (Oh those wonderful massage trains, where people resembled a PG version of the human centipede.) No suprise, this trend continued, although now it seems the uniform has had some costume changes. When I frequented the many emptied factories or underground night clubs, fat pants and soothers were the standard for anyone addicted to bass and hallucinogens. Even though the drugs seem to be the same the clothes have diminished into what looks to be stripper costumes brought to you by the colour neon and vinyl.

No, you don't need more loungewear
I love fashion. I've always used it as a chance to express myself. University was the time I really got to explore this avenue. Every lecture or library trip became a fashion show for me.
