8 Mile Ride
Sitting atop the highest peak of a Japanese roller coaster in the year 2010, I vowed to love Eminem forever. Please, God, I prayed, if you can just get me through this trip, I will buy every Eminem song in existence.
I Was Invited on Dr. Phil
When I was in college, I wrote in to Dr. Phil. Without getting into too much detail, my dad was a gambling addict with an anger problem, and I wanted help for one of my younger sisters, who was affected the worst by our toxic family dynamic and was having serious behavioral issues.
The Golden Girls was a sitcom from the late 1980s about four women who live together in Miami during their golden years. These close friends navigate life's hurdles together, supporting each other through relationship woes, work problems, and health issues. Thirty years later, Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia continue to charm audiences and make people laugh.
Dear Challenge Winners
Why do we tear people down in their moments of triumph? Every time a Challenge concludes and the winners are announced, Vocal users jump to criticize the chosen stories and condemn them as undeserving. It's been said before, but I'll say it again: Knock it off. Let people enjoy their achievements.
Crimson red lips, rosy cheeks, scarlet letters Pray to holy orange bottles that soon you’ll get better Golden leaves, golden strings, golden tattoos and skies
No, I Don't Want to Date
I haven't been on a date in almost four years. It's not that I couldn't get a date (at least, I think I still could); I just genuinely have zero interest in dating or meeting new people.
This poem is a compilation of references to color in Taylor Swift's music. I chose this approach for two reasons. First, Moleskine provides "blank spaces" for creative expression (get it?). For me, that expression is in the form of writing. When I think of descriptive writing, Taylor Swift's lyrics immediately come to mind. With just a few words, she can tell the most vivid of stories. Her songs are full of detail and imaginative uses of color.
Shadow and Lady Boner
I love Vocal Challenges. Challenges get my mind racing and my creative juices flowing. The prompts are wide-ranging and thought-provoking, and they encourage me to express myself in a way that I enjoy and feel proud of. They keep me writing.
