Depression becoming more common in Young Adults

Introduction.

All over the world, people of all races and classes experience changes which could be good or bad. Moreover, these changes could have countless effects on the people affected.

Depression is an unrelenting illness in a society that has gone deep into the fragile minds of humans. Not surprisingly, it is on the rise among young adults. Depression is undoubtedly a mental illness bearing symptoms such as anger, withdrawal, anxiety, fear, frequent crying and many more.

It is said to burden people who have a lot on their necks and see themselves as unfit to reach expectations. It ranges from mild to severe symptoms and it affects people of all backgrounds without question.

Does the question remain what has caused this illness in the minds of young adults? Actually, young adults experience high levels of pressure and stress and a feeling of dejection which has heightened the chances of them getting depressed.

In this era of the 21st century, young adults are faced with even more factors that could influence them than they could face in the past. These factors range from psychological to sociological reasons and in cases where families place high expectations on them, emotional factors. This article seeks to explain three causes of depression in young adults and a surprising remedy to the mental illness that comes from a rather weird source.

Why do young adults experience depression?

  • Pressure:

It’s hard to live in the 21st century and not get battered by wishes and aspirations only to get disappointed when you realize there is no way to achieve your dreams. Young adults who have been exposed to countless new age vices are victims of clout. They get pressured with the ideas of a “good life” as portrayed in the media or by their well-to-do friends and end up filling their hearts with pain. This caused a feeling of not being able to act like their friends or possess what they desire no matter how unimportant they would seem.

Teenagers who find themselves constantly wishing to be like their peers experience high levels of depression. As well as teenagers who have high expectations placed on them by their parents to “succeed” in their endeavors – to be better and always come home with 1st place in competition are the victims especially if they had no interest in those strenuous activities. Due to the force of being in such activities, sadness builds up in them and leaves them in the dark wishing they were freer and had fewer responsibilities on their head.

  • Changes:

No one likes changes, especially when they come with high levels of discomfort. To the young adult, negative changes like a move, an adjusted schedule, new duties and the likes could stress their still-developing mind. Young adults are known for being notorious, always wanting to do what they want and not being questioned by anyone. So whenever they have to drop their desires for the satisfaction of an external cause, it would lead to depression.

  • Bullying and Abuse:

For several decades, bullying has always been frowned upon by society. When a young adult is bullied, at home, or at school or anywhere they frequently visit, it affects their confidence level and they feel under-confident. Resultantly, they will constantly be reminded of the harmful words and pain they get from the bullies in their lives. The fact that they won’t voice out makes it all the more worse than it should be.

So those who have been abused in one way or the other, it has a greater effect on them because of the trauma they would be going through after the whole episode. They will constantly be reminded and sadness will grow inside of them. All this would add up and lead to depression in them.

  • Help from a plant:

Professionals in the medical field have recognized these signs of depression. While engagement in certain activities has been suggested to combat depression, medications have also been prescribed to help.

One of such is the “sour tsunami 3,” a rare to grow marijuana variant that is notable for its adverse effect on the system of an individual. Unlike the other marijuana variants, the sour tsunami 3 is used to give pain-relieving effects, not pleasure effects or feelings of unnatural ecstasy. It has the pure effect of easing the discomfort of a user as it doesn’t get people intoxicated as marijuana should.

In a nutshell, depression is a pain that causes mental and emotional strain for the victim, leading to a sense of dejection and deep sorrow. It gets into the mind of the victim and restricts them, which is why it should be treated appropriately before the victim slips further in and takes drastic decisions.
