Two poetic essay excerpts
Unrecognition| Recognition
Unrecognition
I'm tired of being unrecognized, value wise.
I'm tired of losing friends, of being alone.
'Cause what's the difference of being alone and being lonely?
Aloness, loneliness.
Same thing.
'Cause when you are too alone, you're lonely.
And when you're lonely, you're alone.
And when you're alone, things deepen.
Your feelings enhanced, roaming free in the fresh air of your mind.
The cages of the brain tighten,
Gripping you hard,
Shaking loose what you may call stability.
What's so stable about a mind that's been breaking for years?
With a soul so scared it cannot remember its own name?
The fragility of life,
How tender it is,
How very frail.
In a sea of emotions you'll find me,
Screaming "get me out of here!!",
Trying to break loose
And my soul ain't hearing.
Gentle, gentle into the outside world,
Careful, careful son,
Do not break your own soul,
Do not leave the garden of your doing
Unattended.
Because if someone screams for help,
And they're left alone in a ditch,
Living their own worst nightmare,
Lonely,
Perhaps you could give them a hand and help them out,
Share your dreams with them,
And they're theirs,
Make them happy,
Give them a good laugh,
Until your bones ache,
Until your vocal cords tremble
Tremble
Tremble
Tremble...
As in, "do not stand idly by the blood of your neighbor"
'Cause it's not only about devaluing or unnoticing
It's about how those shape a human's heart
So it's unrecognizable anymore,
How
When someone's abandoned
Demons dance in their head,
Monsters shape and reshape and reshape til there's nothing left,
Only a frail hope,
In humanity that - some went mad,
Some moved on,
Some are good,
Some are still holding on.
Modern queens, kings, that success went to their heads,
Modern peasants that became deglorified out of pity,
Modern villains that are glorified because they're "bad boys"
or "bad girls" because oh, it's so fun being evil,
There's so much beauty in ugliness,
In bleakness,
In blackness,
In darkness...
-Sigh-
It ain't over til the fat lady sings.
Ain't it?
We don't know what's in God's plan.
We don't know where we're going, where we're headed.
Where the freedom is emancipated.
Who's bleeding,
Who's cheating,
Who's treating themselves nicely,
Who's beautifully happy
And who's angrily angry.
We don't know
If the class's lonely kid
Has been an open, loving, caring, friendly being.
or could be.
We don't know whether the kid's popular girl is being abused at home.
Whether they'll find his writings after his death.
Whether a boy's heart is beautiful
And whether a girl's head is plentiful.
Whether she hides arrogance in her, that she desires badly to lose.
So don't devalue of anyone, everyone's a soul
Waiting for the world to notice it.
Recognition
I read today that one should always be happy.
And if you feel sad, you should forcefully snap yourself out of it.
I admire happiness.
Truly.
And positivity, gratitude.
But when someone takes that positive idea of positivity,
And starts fixating on it,
Erasing parts of themselves that are mere treasures:
Vulnerbility,
Sensitivity,
One's big chunks of their essence,
The whole spectrum of emotions,
Spread out, wide,
Waiting for us to explore -
When someone does that,
That's not the truth,
That's toxic.
'Cause fixating on ANY kind of emotion -
Or on any kind of thing, idea, concept -
Is toxicity in and of itself.
The world is full of variety,
Change,
Movement,
It is alive,
Beating,
Ever-developing.
Seems different than the topic I've come to talk about, ain't it?
But that's a development from where I've been, this shows that sometimes you're down, sometimes you're up, sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down. Besides, it is supposed to be a different topic. It's a different excerpt :) the one thing that connects the two - is the title(s).
I named this one "recognition" because it's about recognizing something conceptually 🙂
