What Is Anxiety?

Anxiety generally involves a feeling of fear, apprehension, and worry. In most cases, anxiety is experienced in emotional, cognitive, and physical levels. For example, when a person is feeling anxious, he or she might have some sort of disturbing or negative thoughts. On emotional levels, a person might feel out of control or even scared. It is sometimes common to experience severe sort of anxiety through several somatic sensations such as trembling, sweating, or even shortness of breath.

These symptoms are very common for people who are diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and for people who aren't. There are a lot of people facing anxiety alone because they aren't aware that that is the problem.

People facing panic disorder are mostly familiar with the struggle of managing the feeling of anxiety. For them, sometimes it might feel that anxiety has taken over or completely out of control. Here, I have listed five different ways that can help you to deal with your feelings of anxiety.

Five Ways To Deal With Anxiety

1. Try Easing Up On Alcohol Or Caffeine: Both alcohol and caffeine might kick anxiety into overdrive. Try cutting them back or try to avoid them as much as you can. Remember, soda and coffee aren’t the only things that have caffeine content in them. Caffeine can also pop up in: some headache medicines, tea, chocolates, and diet pills.

2. Always Keep Your Body Moving: Remember, exercise is an important part of both mental and physical health. It can sometimes ease your feeling of anxiety while boosting your overall sense of well-being. Try shooting for three to five different thirty minutes workout sessions per week. Also, choose only the exercises that you enjoy doing so that you don’t get bored with them.

3. Try To Become A Positive Thinker: There can be times when anxious episodes are preceded by several self-sabotaging behaviors and actions. In order to avoid this, try to jot down all the negative thoughts that come into your head as soon as possible. Also, try noting down all the exact opposites of those thoughts. As you pen up all these positive affirmations, you can start visualizing their successful outcomes both in terms of how you want to feel and what you want to happen. This process can help in keeping your body and mind relaxed while keeping your anxiety levels under control.

4. Try To Get More Organized: Remember, poor organizational skills can be at times a source of anxiety and stress. In case you are facing this sort of disorder, you can likely benefit from good time management skills. Try managing your daily responsibilities and tasks more effectively. Consider using better time management techniques like maintaining a to-do list or by exploring more in-depth tools like action programs. Remember a calm and organized working environment can help you feel more under control.

5. Try Using Relaxation Techniques Or Meditation: You can always try using deep breathing exercises in order to keep anxiety or stress under control. Practicing the technique of deep breathing is especially effective for managing any sort of short-term anxiety. Try breathing in as deeply as possible, hold on to the air into your lungs for a few seconds, and let out your breath in a slow momentum. This technique can be of great help for providing relaxation for a longer period of time.
