When they do appear, panic attacks paralyze you and turn the world upside down. And more and more people are complaining that they suffer from such problems, which bring anxiety into their lives and prevent them from leading a normal life. Because a panic attack always leaves behind the fear that it could happen again.

1 in 5 people experience at least one panic attack in their lifetime

Like anything related to the depths of the human psyche, panic attacks have complex manifestations and causes. The panic attack does not occur suddenly.

A study conducted last year, which was based on continuous monitoring of patients suffering from this problem, while carrying out their daily activities, showed that they show signs of mental instability at least 60 minutes before the onset of the panic attack. , only that they do not realize, and that is why they have the feeling that everything started the blue. We must also mention that a panic attack comes from an integrated reaction that involves both the body and the mind.

Our brain triggers the emotional and psychological processes that cause panic. During a panic attack, we experience a series of physical symptoms: palpitations, sweating, chills, suffocation, dizziness, fainting, chills, chest pain or stomach discomfort, nausea, but also mental: the feeling of breaking reality, of depersonalization, fear of going mad, fear of death or fear of losing control.

Causes of panic attacks

Panic attacks are based on the fear of death, which can be triggered at some point by various psychic or environmental factors. They often occur in times of stress, instability, or when we feel helpless or out of control of important situations in our lives, when we are going through major changes or a traumatic event. There may be an inherited predisposition to panic attacks when we have such cases in our family.

How do we treat panic attacks?

To treat panic attacks, it is best to seek therapy with a psychologist, who can help us discover the causes of anxiety but also to "immunize" ourselves mentally, to learn to control such crises.

The causes are different from person to person and that is why there is no universal treatment for this, but the therapy, precisely because it is personalized, is the one that most often manages to calm us down and "cure" panic attacks.

Antidepressants, on the other hand, do not seem to be the right solution, because they often do not solve the problem and come bundled with addiction, which is why it is important to try to get rid of these attacks not by medication, but by working on Ours.

Can panic attacks be prevented?

To prevent panic attacks, we need to be less critical of ourselves, be aware of our fears, anxieties and try to understand them, exercise, learn meditation and breathing control techniques, relax, do not put too much pressure on ourselves, to rest, not to have a messy schedule and to eat properly, to benefit from all the substances necessary to ensure the balance of our body.

Don't confuse panic attacks with other conditions!

It is also useful to know that panic attacks are not always what they seem, we often confuse a calcium drop (which has similar symptoms), a hypoglycemia attack, or a thyroid dysfunction with a panic attack. So it is important to do our tests and detect if we do not have a lack of calcium, chromium if we do not have hormonal imbalances, heart disease, asthma, or neurological disorders.

Because the biochemical balance in the body is as important as the emotional one and can make us experience all sorts of inexplicable and seemingly psychically related symptoms.

So do not rush to give the verdict that you suffer from a panic attack, and if this is a certainty, do not be afraid, with the help of the power of your mind and self-control, you can overcome any problems of this nature!
