Behold, Gemini, There Is A Choice Coming, a Road To Be Taken

Gemini, oh Gemini, your season arrives this year with portents unimaginable. For so long, you have bounced like a child’s toy between identities, being whatever felt right in the moment. You protected yourself, reducing exposure and covering the tracks of the Other. But the Other is you, and we know this to be true. You fill both sets of footprints in the fresh snow, and now your destiny is calling to you. Indeed, your future is waiting.

The twins must now come together to choose. Yes, we all know that you are super-fast, super-smart, super-adaptable, and super-curious. Being two in one, you can talk to anyone about anything, anywhere, and at any time. Floating like an angel through the air, your wings are reflections of your dual personalities. The place where they flap in unison is the most angelic of all: how loving and kind, generous and good you are to other people. Indeed, those qualities are most admirable and always respected.

Yet, there has been something missing for so long. Not romance or fame, not windfalls or celebrations, but a simple kindness within. When are you going to be as good to yourself as you are to others? When, oh sweet Gemini, will you be the one that blossoms, and not the two stranded in a desert of your design?

Given such a question, I have rewritten one of the greatest poems in American history, perhaps in the English Language, for you this month. I believe you are deserving of such an effort. I have taken the greatness of Robert Frost's Gemini poem, "The Road Not Taken," and transformed it into an alarm bell striking in a distant tower, a herald telling the town of a potential disaster. Please, Gemini, dig deep into your intellectual depths and pay attention to my creation for you:

The Future Not Taken

Two futures diverged in the word should,

And sorry I could not ignore both

And stay perfectly still, long I stood

And sagged into one as far as I could

To where it bent past a childhood growth;

Then took the other, not quite as fair,

But having perhaps the better claim,

Because it allowed you not to care;

Though as for that, the failing there

Had worn us both about the same,

And both in morning equally lay

In hopes, no fears had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the faith for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever turn back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere pages and pages hence:

Two futures diverged in "He Should," and I—

I took the one without the why,

And from there rose all this diffidence.

Please, Gemini, understand that I love you, and I have always loved you. How can I not love one of the most creative signs to walk this humble planet? I have longed for you to discover the bounty of the meaningful life that you deserve. How can I not care for a soul that loves first, despite the pain of thinking itself divided? Yes, the twins sometimes move as one, but so often, they stumble apart and battle in a legendary tug-of-war.

Given this recognition and intuitive insight, I long to free you, Gemini, from the senseless struggle that will disrupt the wonders of your future bright. I dream of you experiencing a life of passion and not diffidence. Thus, the poem is a siren, a distress signal that I hope will open your eyes to the necessity of choosing. When a choice must be made, you can no longer sing your silly song of indulgence. When a choice implies one path, leaving the other options behind, you must pick the path of your truest passion, of your hardest challenge, and of your most secret desire from deep within.

Since I love you, as I cherish and adore all of the signs of my fabulous zodiac, I beg you to embrace what you fear and dread. I ask you to believe in your capacity for discipline and accomplishment. You have a destiny and a destination! You, both of you, must come together and choose what is difficult, so your greatness can be forged of that fire.

The stars have told me a secret that cannot be denied. Despite being two, you are not divided. Despite being the essence of twintastic (yes, I did make up that word right now for the poet in Gemini’s soul), you have the strength to succeed beyond imagination.

Therefore, when you come to that fork in the road, choose not as two but as one. May both of you bow down before your soul and listen to the quietest voice within. The soul never throws tantrums, never screams, and is never loud. It does not need to be. Yet, the soul's quiet, steady voice is undeniable. It will point the way, and it will intuitively know where to go. Your soul, divided Gemini, is one and indivisible.

I promise that this Gemini Season, you will be led to a place where your path will be revealed. Although that path is one, conveying perhaps a conflicted uneasiness to the two, it is the path that must be taken. I know where it leads. Indeed, precious Gemini, you will travel the narrow path that is hard to a sacred place where you can be together and separate and at peace with one another. Your truest future inscribes a covenant of serenity and communion, realization, and the deepest understanding of you.

In that sacred place, two fountains rise forth to feed a single well, and the sustenance, the ambrosia, the nectar that rises from that well will be the song of your being together. This is the water of your life, oh Gemini, and it will sustain your passion unto forever.
