He walks oddly, shuffling and nearly tripping down the hallway toward his apartment door. I slow my pace, allowing my neighborβ a stuffy ex-marine with one missing tooth and a strong odor of liquor and two weeks' worth of unwashed stench always accompanying himβto reach his door. I crinkle my nose, nearly gagging as he dawdles ahead.

What an uplifting poem really leaves you with a good feeling
Very sweet & lyrical. But did you mean to write "Episcopal" instead of "Epistolary" in the first line of your preface? (As a pastor, I found it quite amusing. Perhaps you have thoughts of entering the ministry?)
