You, Me, and The Tree

To find love in words with four letters or less.

To burn like a star

Born of fire and gas;

Life with you is ever so vast.

When we turn into worm food,

Fate, in due time;

I'll feel such luck to call you mine.

May a tree grow from the ash of our bone.

Tall and spry, deft limb over deft limb,

Rise to the sky, and make a new home.

May our kin put a tire on your arm one day,

So they can sway from your burl,

Bear in mind your body,

And find new hope,

Spun out the cord of our old knit soul.

May rose buds form so they can add up each leaf:

They love me?

They love me not?

No one's to know for sure,

But the sum for us will stay the same,

As the soil we rest in will save our name.

Even when we're far too long gone,

The love we had will not be lost.

Even the span of time, with no end,

Can not wipe out the life we led.

    Well, fuck this is good! <— my 4-letter words. The constraints of the challenge didn’t limit you at all. This is a profound expression of the enduring love we all hope for.

  • Wow, how unique! I love this angle you took... the "after" portion people don't think about. But you still incorporated love into it... truly well done!

  • Truthfully written ❤️📝‼️

    Well written, Ashley! Sad. Cheery. True. Love does not end with death. It's above and beyond that.
