For a while, this world we live in felt so modern.

As I aged and changed, the layers still encasing us in centuries old ideology became more obvious.

An ideology that allows me to wear a hoodie in public without seeming suspicious.

An ideology that allows me to drive through any neighborhood without being questioned.

An ideology that allows me to believe that I still have a tomorrow.

This ideology allows me to stand tall and powerful, though I feel more powerless than ever.

I wish I could give your loved ones back.

I wish I could simply convict the son's of bitches who make you fear for your safety.

I wish I could tell you that tomorrow is going to be a better day.

But together, we will stand.

Together, we will fight.

And together, we will show them your power.
