We

We had masks for our faces, vaccines for our souls, we had polls, we had roles, we had balls, we had goals, we had ways, we had means, we were tanned, we were grand - it turned out we were building our castles on sand way too close to the water and then came the tide, it was chaos and slaughter with no place to hide, and the battle we thought we were winning with words we have lost to the savages wielding their swords, and the friends that we had - or we thought that we had - all declared they were sad and they left it at that and the surgeon pulled on leather fingerless glove… it was simply the dawn of the thing we called love.
