Truth Season

Maine Vacation

We sat beside water

Gazing at calm current

And clouds reflected,

Hugging warm knees

To our chest

And telling stories

The wind inspired,

Until our truths

Fluttered like leaves

To river surface

And wound their way

Through conscious

And waited at our lips,

Tempted to speak

Of one another

But our tongues

Dammed the revelation

And reflected upon moment

In solitude in peace.

Our fall was beautiful

Preceeded by burning summer

And belonged to us alone,

Beside a pond

We knew to love.
