Dear Covid 19,
Did you think we forgot all about you? Were you wondering if the time is done when people care to know what each other do to survive your horror, you evil dark one?
You just showed up to disrupt our living by taking from us our elders, our souls, those who could have graced us with their giving of knowledge, of love, but instead left us holes.
Where children and parents, where friends and lovers loom, or linger to mourn through the Long Covid veils that drift all around our emergency rooms. Memories of fear dust our sorrowing trails.
But we won't forget what you did to us, nor those we have lost who left us in trust.
Yours (dis) Respectfully,
The Survivors

Well done!
A great read and a great challenge entry, Roy! It's telling me I need to finish something I've been working on...
Roy this was great! My favourite part was the sign off, "Your's (dis) respectfully,". Had me crack a smile! ๐
Very well said. Covid stole so much over the past 3 years, and I'm still not sure it's done with us.
Covid is the thing that traumatized the world. This was powerful and beautifully written.
Strange, I was surrounded by Covid, I worked through it, yet never got it. Got the wretched Vaccine and messed up my joints. So ๐ฆถ๐ฆถ๐ฆถ covid. Too true.
I really loved your sign off. The first step to prevent history from happening is not forgetting it. We should never forget Covid 19
Got covid two times, but God is good. Yeah, Roy, Covid has disrupted our living in many ways, and its effects are likely to be felt for years to come.
Very deep and emotional!
Got Covid for the first time 3 weeks ago. Iโm a first responder, and knowing what I know, nothing prepared me for the heaviness in my lungs. Itโs still here. Wish I could punch ๐ค Covid!! Great fricken poem!
Excellent Roy. No one would fault you if your cover photo displayed the iconic middle finger. ๐
Ugh! Covid sucks... In a sense, it is a true alien invasion, only we can't see the enemy. God bless the souls who have succumbed. Thank you, Roy for crafting a letter that is well overdue.
We were just talking in my PLC about the havoc Covid is still wreaking on student learning. Definitely a relatable poem!
You have given voice in clear terms what most of us would wish to say to COVID-19. I grieve for those who dismiss it or think differently.
Love the sign off you used, Roy! Memories of fear for sure ๐
๐ฏโค๏ธAdmiration my friend ๐๐
Very interesting personifying Covid-19. Well done!
