To Eat Like A King
A Poem Inspired By The Tastes of Elvis Presley
My friend Cherri shared the meme, I then remembered the "Fit For A King" cookbook by Elizabeth McKeon, Ralph Gevirtz and Julie Bandy and thought I could write a poem using the same lyric structure of the song "My Favourite Things" from the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical "The Sound of Music".
The song repeats every verse and chorus but I have just done the first half, but you could read and sing it twice.

Hollow Out, Fill Up With All Those Things

I love this idea. What an eclectic palate. I'd try that weird sandwich. Elvis is such a strange and tragic figure, but nobody can deny his talent and influence. That last line of your poem is so poignant. Well done!

Yep, I was always told that Elvis' favorite sandwich was PB&J with bacon. I was also told that when he passes his body was found with 20lbs of feces stuck in his colon. Did the king eat like a king? Yes. Should the king have eaten like a king? Maybe his bread could've had a bit more fiber and maybe a fruit salad or two on the side. Nice take on the song Mike. I sang it in my head whilst reading it.
