working and struggling every day

coping, trying to manage my way

wading through fear and doubt

always further in

never see the way out

a pointless existence with futile resistance

no one here gets out alive

none of us immune, we die

love is fleeting

while loyalty is rare

temporary beings, some beyond repair

hopeless hope fueling the fire

behind our unquenchable desires for notoriety, power, infinite fame

ignore the fact that we're all the same

if we were cast down from heaven,

then isn't this hell?

we live among demons and heathens, can't you tell?

unity seems as far from our thoughts as space

we're blind to the fact that it's all the same place

focused on the duality

rather than the wholeness of it all

arguing over the credibility of a divinity

that is actually within our soul's walls

when will we break our chains

and change our names

and free ourselves from the lives we lead as slaves

to a monetary, greed-based system of lies

where separation is embraced

divide and conquer

they hope we fall

can our light pervade the ever closing darkness?

must we always switch back and forth

to stay balanced?

is that the beauty of it?
