Faded yellow photographs of my parents still remain,
Of a simple celebration caught in time.
Hazel and blue suit jackets pressed heavy at the seams.
Greens and golds are the hues that trace the lines.
Blue and purple were the colors of the dress she wore that day,
there were a variety of flowers down the side.
There he was standing just a few feet away,
From his love, about to be his bride.
A time gone by, the good ol days,
when everything was said to be golden.
didn’t have a care in the world,
Life was slow and easier then.
Black and white polaroids,
faded now, silvery gray.
Moments of days long ago.
Images frozen, captured in frames,
They say growing old is a privilege,
And we’re old enough now to agree.
Our colors like the pictures fade each and every day,
Like the flowers we wither away.
Classics, so we collect them.
Store them in a box or up on a shelf.
Hold them close, a cherished treasure.
Lost pieces we have of ourselves.
Childhood memories of days gone down.
Bright and beautiful moments, forever held here in my mind.
My life’s colors are just out of focus, the pictures help hold them in time.
Chasing rainbow butterflies in the yard.
Watching yellow bees romance the blooms.
Listening to the crickets and frogs at the pond,
making ripples off the dock with my toes.
The smell of green clover at daybreak,
the scent of the rain in the air.
The glowing yellow fire keeping me warm,
bursting it’s red sparks everywhere.
Watching the sun melting in the sky,
the prismatic compass at night.
A wonder how it collects itself again,
to rise in the East, just as bright.
If melancholy has a color,
I’d suspect that its purple and blue.
Maybe some yellow and orange,
I guess whatever color suits you.
Cause your life is your own, go on live it.
Let your imaginations run wild and free.
Find your joy, dreaming of kodachrome smiles
Be yourself cause your beauty runs deep.
