These Dayz
Initial Thoughts During First Months of Covid Lockdowns
White gloves and surgical masks
mark the dark ages of our day.
News casts and media folk say
“Stay at home, stay six feet away”.
No job, no life, no hope
It’s a hurricane view for most.
Currency is no longer green
But white squares on a roll.
The world was headed up
Now we’re at a standstill.
Ghost towns in a world
Now filled with fear.
Like we broke down in a
car and we can’t steer.
Flat tires, fumes rise,
and the night nears.
No mechanic in sight,
Staying right here;
The motto of the season
maybe even for a year.
All from a virus that debuted
To the world as its main-stage,
It was only a drop that
turned into a tsunami wave.
And now,
To it,
We all obey.
But there always two halves to a coin.
Focus on one and you’ll miss the point.
Sunny days are great yeah,
But rain is what helps us grow fast.
