The Unmasking

Confronting Deceit and Finding Redemption

I stand naked because I'm caught in a lie.

A time when my mood dropped.

No place to hide now that the truth is out,

In this harsh world where ghosts meet.

A hastily woven web of words,

Now falls apart, there's no truth to lose.

The looks of loved ones frown,

When I look at myself, I see a clown.

In the still, sharp light, the pain of shame burns so bright.

But somewhere inside me, bravery tells me to face the storm and wash away my sin.

"I lied," I say with a bowed head and a shaking voice. Let it show.

Don't lie or hide anymore. Honesty should be my prize.

I can't hide the pain I've caused; I can see it in every eye.

But now that I know the truth, I can start to heal.

A trust that was broken and a wound that needs to be healed.

It's not easy to forgive someone after all the harm they've done.

But here I am, no longer able to run away. I own my mistakes, which sets me free.

In the end, the truth's hug brings a deep kindness that lasts.

Getting over lies and healing wounds makes a person stronger.
