The Solstice

Michael Marchese

By Michael Brandon MarchesePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

I would have gave you the sun

And the moon

And the stars

The skies and the seas

And the world would be ours

I'd make them all bow

And they'd fall to their knees

Serenade you with pleas

For but a mere glimpse

Into our galaxies

All time and space offered

From my eyes to yours

Oh what we could've seen

The kingdoms I'd build you

My goddess, my queen

Universal our minds

Would shrink not to thoughts

Of how to transcend

The distance between us

Should all of this end

There would just be two hearts

And the love that they share

As one harmony sound

Of the last autumn leaf

As it floats to the ground

But you were still searching

When I found this peace

In your beating war drum

That still signifies

That winter has come

heartbreak
