The Raven's Mournful Cry

Wounded dream

By Loua NicPublished about a month ago 1 min read

Amidst the dreary night's embracing gloom
A burning desire for love's crimson bloom
Yet I entombed that longing's ardent fire
To grasp at glory's distant spire
I shunned the caress of roseate romance
Silenced each yearning's torrid trance
Grasping instead futurity's cold blade
Though left to stand in solitude's stark shade
Through sorrow's haze her beauteous face appeared
A beacon bright for which my steps have steered
Alone I carved my tragic life's design
Braving waves of anguish in grief's brine
The night winds whispering across the skies
Carry aloft the echoes of my sighs
My pen inscribes this lonely tale forlorn
Upon sacrifice's stage my laments are borne
Behind night's velvet curtains embracing dearth
I await with a single hope's rebirth
Until success's lamp illumes my call
Then love, in peace eternal, you I'll install

Beautiful writing. Loved these lines: "My pen inscribes this lonely tale forlorn Upon sacrifice's stage my laments are borne"
