The Last Chapter

A Poem

The very first chapter is simply a blurb,

all the others are a distant blur

Life has been a lesson that I’ve learnt;

I have cried, and I put up a fight

I didn’t stop; I think you’ll agree

If it’s a lesson, then I got a degree

I’ve only ever wanted my mind to be free

There’s a lot within, and it’s hurting me

The world somehow tied me down, and I set myself free, pass me the crown

The last chapter doesn’t quite sum it all up, let me fill you in

I have plenty of things to say, but I’m not sure you’re listening so I’ll go.

I’m tired of being a fighter,

I think it’s time I leave here

This will be my great escape,

watch me go

This will be my final goodbye, not so much a dream but I’m doing this for me

The last chapter, my life is just a distant blur - there were no guidelines

Light the room, and you might just see me leave, I need to let my heart breathe

sad poetry
