The peaks and valleys are not as vast

as mountain tops or mountain's pass

yet we grow wise as sky is vast

up the hills we wander

Will we learn on grass and stone

the reason we may yet atone

a life unthinking a waste of bone

left on the hills we wandered

Do we lose ourselves again

no brotherhood between all men

you choose the sword I choose the pen

and seek new hills to wander

Take a love and not a life

seek your peace and not your strife

I wish your future to be bright

with many hills to wander

Take a love… not a life. We should all learn from this.

I loved the line, "Do we lose ourselves again"--it was a super relatable moment in the middle of the poem. Thanks for writing this and sharing it with us!
