Poetry at its finest

Should be raw and never bland

It should take you by the heart

And refuse to hold your hand

It should make you think about life

In a way you never have

And leave you feeling breathless

Perhaps sad or mad or glad

It should inspire you to think

About the way that life appears

To seek out insecurities

And leave you streaming tears

It should touch your heart

If what it says is true

And leave you to question its intent

Like it was made for you

It should inspire a feeling

From which you cannot hide

And leave you with a memory

That takes pride to strive inside
