The Art of Self Belief

TO BELIEVE IN THE SPIRIT OF THEE

By Hridya SharmaPublished 6 months ago 2 min read

We often keep questioning ourselves are we enough, are we capable of achieving our desires? Are we doing sufficient to be acclaimed as successful by society? Our sense of worthiness is often measured by how successful society perceives us. How many times do we feel are plodded in a race against one another? The race against time, the competition of who is the superior between two uniquely built individuals. It is easy for us to say, “ They must have it easy, they might be privileged enough or fortunate enough to be destined with what they have. This in some cases might be true to a certain degree, but it is also important for us to understand that it is abundantly the by-product of how hard they must have hustled, the sleepless nights they must have spent reviewing their dream, working in silent footsteps toward their goal.

It is easy to compare yourself to others and envy what they have accomplished. But you know what is tough, to question yourself, is it something that external action is making you feel that way or an individualistic sense of doubt about your capabilities? Does this have to do with some person or does it reflect the internal turmoil you are experiencing?

The sense of envy and competitiveness, we have to be better than others is often a reflection of the gap between what we want are what we have. It is the insecurities that we need to work on rather than essentially feeding our ego into the belief that he/she does not deserve what they have. Sometimes it is also important to understand that there are certain things we feel we are lacking but do not essentially need in our lives. I call it the sailing boat phenomenon, where you are in a river on your boat and a larger boat passes by, it is human instinct to desire to have what they do not own, but the realization that we already are in a boat that equips us with completing the journey gives a sense of relief. Self-love and self-acceptance are often undervalued. The act of accepting your life just the way it is and yet having faith that you will have all the things you desire at the right time liberates us from the constant struggle we go through.

So this post is a reminder for me and whoever reads this, Take pride in how mightily you walked in search of light through the dark, And have faith in the quest you are about to embark on.
