surreal poetry
Surrealist poetry embodies the essence of poetry itself, drawing upon shocking imagery and lyrical incongruities to comment on the inner-workings of the mind.
BURIED SUBMERGED...
Buried, Submerged... Convinced we have to be different Convinced that beauty has to be unique We build a form entirely hollow Our sole purpose a beautiful ending Claiming we want to stay alive We devour our own fantasies Take out the rib of fiction Molding a new reality But since we are not God, we fail to breath in life Then we cry and darken the world Claiming it hath not mercy We dream of a perfect world While draining out the perfection It's no longer about the perfect imperfection It's now about the perfect delusion ...Buried, Submerged...we are truly lost And since the lost see no light or hope It's okay to say ...It is a dark world.

Revelations of the Heart.. Content Warning.
In the depths of my soul, where secrets reside, I find solace in this confessional stride. I lay bare my burdens, my sorrows unmasked, Through verses I share, my pain is surpassed. In the corners of my mind, dark shadows creep, Memories that haunt me, nights filled with no sleep. The scars etched upon my heart, a silent strife, In this confessional poem, I seek a new life. Each line I confess, a piece of my truth, A cathartic release, like a phoenix from the soot. The weight of my sorrows, I cannot deny, But through these words, my spirit learns to fly. This poem is a mirror, reflecting my core, Unveiling the struggles I've faced and endured. In the rhythm and rhyme, I find my reprieve, An intimate sanctuary, where my soul can breathe. So let these words speak, my confessions untold, As I navigate the emotions that unfold. For in this confessional poetry's embrace, I find solace and healing, a sacred space.

Unseen Beauty's Disbelief
Unseen Beauty's Disbelief a realm of dreams, where reality can deceive, I found a gem, a beauty few could conceive. Her radiance, a symphony of celestial art, But alas! No one would believe my heart. I painted her image with words divine, Each brushstroke of praise, so tenderly designed. Her eyes, twin galaxies, ablaze with stardust, Her smile, a sunrise, melting hearts with a gust. Yet when I spoke of her, my voice filled with awe, They dismissed my words, as if illusions I saw. For how could mortal eyes perceive such grace? They cast doubt upon my enamored embrace. I tried to capture her essence with poetic ink, Verses flowing like rivers, my ardor in sync. But they turned a deaf ear to my fervent verse, Dismissed my passion, called it a poetic curse. I described her laughter as the song of the breeze, Her presence, a tranquil refuge from life's unease. But they shook their heads, their disbelief profound, Blinded by skepticism, beauty never to be found. Her voice, a serenade that angels envied, Her touch, a whisper of love, so tenderly. Yet they laughed and shrugged, a disbelief so bold, To them, my words were but tales, untold. Oh, how I yearned to make them see, The splendor I beheld, so vividly. But she remained a secret, hidden from their sight, Her allure untouched by their skeptical light. So, I kept her locked within my poetic prose, Safeguarding her beauty, where only my heart knows. For in a world that refuses to believe, Her magnificence forever in my soul shall cleave. No matter the doubters, their disbelief unjust, I will forever cherish her, my muse, my trust. For in the depths of my words, she will forever be, The most beautiful enchantment, known only to me.

Author's Note: What do you do when a friend and one of your favorite Vocal creators suggests you use your weird Facebook cover photo as inspiration for a poem? Personally, I do as I'm told. Thank you, Cathy Holmes, for the marvelous suggestion and I can only hope I've done justice to the idea. (I'm not sure how my mind went on the journey it did, but here's where we ended up!)
