surreal poetry
Surrealist poetry embodies the essence of poetry itself, drawing upon shocking imagery and lyrical incongruities to comment on the inner-workings of the mind.
When Everything Changed
The Moments Before a cool draft of air wafts around my ankles as the operating door closes behing me, sending goosbumps up my exposed legs. As I lay down on the surgical table, the nurses try asking me trivial questions about my life in an attempt to distract me from the fact that they are simultaneously strapping me down; as if the most important moment of my life wasn't happening as we spoke. Who knew your reflexes can still be active while under heavy sedation?

Dreams Beyond Me
What I wouldn’t give to possess powers I do not have, to do the things I have always longed to do. I can only describe with my dreams how I long to not be chained to the ground, cursed to walk on these two simple legs, to be stuck alone in an imprisoned brain, bound here by evolution or by divine judgment – I couldn’t tell you which it was, they both have their limits. Neither gave me what I wanted, what I wish.
