sad poetry
The cathartic nature of poetry makes it one of the best outlets to channel feelings of sadness, emotional turmoil, grief and despair.
One More Day With Nana
One More Day With Nana At twenty-five, he stood a man, or so the world believed, But deep inside, he was her boy, with all his heart bereaved, For Nana was his safest place, his comfort and his home, And when she died, his whole wide world was suddenly alone.

Where Be Our Cincinnatus?
Where be our Cincinnatus? That golden hero of yore Where be our Cincinnatus? To whom even Washington swore Above reproach Pridefully evoked A common admiration Wielding power with veneration With the Aquei’s threat abated Upon the Field of Mars, abdicated Laying down stewardship's yoke Knowing it be no golden cloak Where be our Cincinnatus? Someone upon whom we can depend Where be our Cincinnatus Amongst these common men?

A Year On
365…366…367… The days tick by and meld together As another month passes Making more than a year Since you’ve been gone We’re almost numb now With a façade of functioning Just enough to get by On the outside As our insides tear Themselves apart 368…369…370… Anniversaries and birthdays fly by With hardly a glance But many tears shed As we can never forget We’re almost numb now To the emotions clawing at our hearts Trying desperately to break free But we will continue to work On suppressing what loss Has taken from us 371…372…373… The ticking of the clock Drives us insane As we sit here without you Masquerading at normality We’re almost numb now But our grief won’t let us forget All that you meant to us All the lessons that you taught us All the memories that you left behind All that you were to us 374…375…376… The days may meld together Time may drag on with our heavy hearts But your memory will warm us And make us whole again

Farewell Bel
It's time. Time to say goodbye. I chose you for your happy wriggle, and carried you home in the pocket of my coat. I had nothing... NO money, no family, and yet you began to open up my world. Sorrow and grief haunted my life, and you brought joy. You were a terror young, a tornado of destruction in my one room apartment. Needle-like teeth, and high-pitched yaps echoed in my place. But it's time now. You held many names: Jelly Belly, Portabello, Bel Cosby, Baby Bel, Bela Lugosi. All dogs go to heaven. And now its your turn. We had ten years together, ten years of joy, of frustration, ten years of sadness, of enlightenment. I will see you at the rainbow bridge one day, My Bela Lugosi. And I will miss you... forever and a day.
