fact or fiction
Is it fact or merely fiction? Fact or Fiction explores the myths and beliefs we hold about what makes a good poem and the poetry rules that were made to be broken.
The Borrowed Crown
The crown borrows a broom from dawn. When lords parade with banners high, and flatterers sing beneath their towers, The realm may deem their splendid boasts as gifts from heaven’s generous powers. They carve their names through public praise, they chase the poet’s golden pen, They call their vanity a virtue and seek applause from mortal men. Yet seasons judge the grandest claims, and time reveals the borrowed throne; The humble truth shall sweep away the pride that rulers call their own.
