art
Poetry and art go hand in hand; in fact, a poem is just art in the written form.
Be Good to Us
Tribute to my new country. --Welcome to America-- (Happy Birthday, America!!) "Be good to us" — those words lingered in my ears. I walked where the immigration officer directed me, through one door, then another, then yet another, but the plea stayed with me. In my head, another tune kept surfacing, that disco line, "please, be good to me..." by SOS.

One Work: The Sun
Radiant diamond Splitting light across the land Maybe there is hope *** Author’s Note: This haiku is for Raymond G. Taylor’s One Work Challenge, found below. I chose Edvard Munch’s “The Sun” because, while it is by the same artist as “The Scream”, it evokes in me the exact opposite feelings as “The Scream”. It gives me hope for another day, and I thought that it was worth showing that the same artist could create such drastically different feelings in separate pieces.

One Work: The Moscow Scream
Ukraine's missile hit Moscow's oil refinery Panic, screams on tape Author's note: This was written for Raymond Taylor's One Work challenge. As I can't avoid the political because Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine is defining my life, I immediately thought of the meme that I came across so many times after Ukraine hit an oil refinery near Moscow with its new Flamingo missile. Here's the original photograph of the event the meme is referring to:

One work: a challenge
I am not a scream Not just an emoticon Other work to see O ~ o ~ Do you see what I have done here? I have written about a work of art, in this case this work by Edvard Munch, in just three lines. Hence the inclusion in Vocal's Poets community rather than Art. Is this cheating? Who cares?
