Sunrise

the spiritual experience of gazing at the sun

The first sliver of sunlight

dissolves our nighttime minds.

Our dreams, the spooky scary things

become harder and harder to find.

In a land far away

they’re out of reach

in the quiet, quiet world.

And as the sliver grows bigger

and bigger

and our world gets brighter

and brighter

and brighter

and the air gets warmer

and warmer

and warmer,

my body comes jittering alive

as I stare into the soul of Father Sun

and he gives me passion and drive.

I stare into the soul of Mama Sun

and feel her radiating love,

for I am a creature of Mother Earth

and she is our Mama Sun.

I feel the love and energy pour

straight into my eyes.

I look away and wherever I look

shines sunshine in disguise.

Like beams of light

from each eye shine

the soul of the shining sun

right back into the quiet world

where the day has just begun.
