Spring Song Birds List Poem

Spring is on the horizon, songbirds are in flight, and the acrostic poem is spreading its wings and ready to take flight!

Swallows so sleek and streamlined that they swiftly dive to feast on innocent insects that want to fly. An architect bird, for they know how to create a nest in hollow trees or under someone's eaves.

Painted Buntings, an artist's enchanting subject, chirp their soft melodies on the warm breeze as they unfold themselves in their protective, hidden greenery.

Rose-Breasted Gross Beaks perch in the trees, gazing for the freshest fruits and seeds. They are social and fun during the breeding season, yet when it is cold and the snow has fallen, they prefer to be left alone.

Indigo Bunting, a regal bird of deep, radiant cobalt blue feathers and wings that fly South for winter's bite; when the sun kisses the North, they dart searching for green meadows and blossoming trees.

Northern Cardinals, the spirit messengers of the dead, symbolize rebirth and good luck; this famous bird has bird watchers pulling out their mirrored lenses. They whistle tunes as they build their nest of leaves and grass for their future baby eggs.

Golden-Winged Warblers, adorable in size as they whistle, wrestle worms and beetles for meals. Alas, these sweet grey feathers are in decline, so if you hear a buzz buzz buzz around an abandoned farm, they might be nearby.

Wonderful! I’m not quite sure when I became obsessed with listening to and watching birds, but it’s happened! Your poem was great.

There is nothing better than listening to birds and watching them eat or drink. Good work.
