Somewhere between the river and a cloud
a summer sonnet

The clouds dispersed, revealing swells of blue;
Warbles accompanied with the radio.
We lay like the starfish we would pursue,
Tranquil eyes beneath shades of bright yellow.
I know you always liked the summer best,
When we would sway like vessels in a wave.
A myriad of moments to digest,
This day; which my frame has promised to save.
Passion grew with haste like wild bamboo,
Sweating and drinking lemonade in sync.
Past the meadow, leaves wet with evening dew,
This captured memory still so distinct.
Our blossoming love had been miscast,
I wish I had known it would be your last.
