~

a slight propulsion,

a division of stakes,

to chance the landing

becomes a question delayed,

skimming lazily o'er

still glass,

a smudge of reflection

captured in the moment,

that liminal space

when tensions reach

and winds resist,

margins blur

while willowy limbs

tease the surface,

to rest or take flight?

A decision made

with caution

yet just beneath

a shadow stirs

ever slight,

a trick of the light perhaps.

instincts call

for patience yet

hunger cries the loudest

and so the innocent

remains unaware

to the end,

swallowed in one sigh of

an upturned mouth.

the dance is over,

for now.

Heather, this is such a beautiful dance of words you wrote, the contrast of life and the inevitable end is but a moment in time. you captured the harmony of nature. I was spellbound. Congratulations

congrats on TS. I love taking photos of flowers and now and then, I can catch a butterfly, dragon fly, or bee land to drink its nectar. Now, I'll also have a new perspective on nature. Thank you for opening my eyes a bit wider. This was GREAT.

Did you create the pic, Heather? It is astonishing beautiful! Loved the sense of living and acting in the moment and the evocation of life’s frailty in an uncertain world in your beautiful poem.

  • Love the dragonfly and your poem evoked it beautifully
