Sitting

I’ve been sitting in silence with the moon

She tells me sweet little nothings as she dances around the night sky.

Smiles back to me and washes away my doubts

I’ve been sitting in silence with the universe

She’s been telling me secrets about the stars

How scandalous they dance around the world, hoping for applause

The sun always jokes with me, how you can’t ever get too close

But then he burns you and the laughs haunts you through the scars.

I’ve been washing my feet in the crash of the atlantic, whispers of gasping last words traced by my toes

The moon and me, we’ve been talking.

She tells me all your secrets and keeps mines wound right along the universe.

She’s the only thing I trust to touch that won’t fade away.
