She’s Happy Within Her Solitude

Where peace now reigns

She no longer believes in true love,

Destined to be alone for all her days,

Happy in her solitude, at peace,

Knowing the cost love insists she pays.

😊

She rambles the hours in silence,

Allowing the breeze to blow the pain away,

The sun now shines on a daily basis,

And the blues have disappeared to stay.

😊

Life is by far more simplistic,

Her smile worn with infinite grace,

No more wary good morning kiss,

As peace lines the beauty on her face.

😊

Her mood is more stable,

Gone is the excitement but so is the pain,

She finds joy in her solo endeavour,

And she’s not prepared to risk love again.

😊

Does she miss the intimacy?

No, she knows it’s not worth the cost,

She has gained her hard won freedom,

In which with love she once lost.

😊

There are more sunny days on her horizon,

The clouds of doubt have slowly dissipated,

The rainy days feel more cleansing,

And when the rainbow shines she is elated.

😊

Her heart was a betrayal of magnitude,

Wisdom deserted in a period of insanity,

A time or two of joy, was it worth it?

No, it was an ego trip of crazy vanity.

😊

She welcomes the future that’s hers alone,

No demands are made upon her time,

She’s free to come and go as she pleases,

And lives her best life in her prime.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

This poem evokes great sadness… But in a strangely peaceful way….it feels like a loss of faith that grew into acceptance … and yet….true love can only be drawn in from a place of security and freedom…there is great irony in this 🙏✨ Very thought provoking and beautiful Colleen

  • You go, girl! Live it to the full.
