In the corner of my mind and my eyes

Dark and murky visions arise

The tangle and dance

Making me strain every muscle of my being

They continue dancing, they linger

They stay, no rush

I close my eyes and wrestle my mind

Just want to sleep tonight

I close my eyes, pretend to sleep

My mind turns on

The wildest one

Shadows creep deep inside

There is no escape, at least for tonight

The shadows win

I open my eyes

The fear is something I give them

Like a gift they require to live

I wish I could stop

And pretend they didn’t exist
