Will o’ wisps dancing on the moors

I want to live there where it’s quiet

Day to night a slow transition

A ceremony every day

*

Moonlight bathing us in silver

Like a blanket from the heavens

While the creatures wake from slumber

The nightly party of the fae

*

But maybe it’s not sprites that keep us

Safe and nestled in our beds

But something much more ancient still

That lives and dwells upon the moors

*

Starlight, starfall, they’ve seen it all

While living on the rock of ages.

Ancestors of light and dark

That dreamt upon this land before

****

I’d be lying if I said this poem wasn’t initially inspired by the imagery in Bugsy Watts’s beautiful Top Story ✨ Enjoy this randomness!

This was so beautifully especially the last stanza! That was my favourite! Loved your poem!

  • The beauty of the moors always makes me think of "An American Werewolf in London" & "Hound of the Baskervilles".
