Resistance
Like a stop sign, a yield sign
you appeared, hand to my chest
keeping me from
merely existing, and I
realized as my vision cleared
you were not a mirage
but a true depiction of
what I was missing
I am prone to resist but you
had to insist I
look at you
closely
yes look
closely
closer and see
the light of you waiting to
warm my world
Magnificence
You are a newly minted guitar
waiting to be lovingly strummed
You are a beautiful sunset
at the end of a dreary day
You are the cool waters of the ocean
when the sand is too hot ‘neath my feet
You are a slow, silky groove
in a rock and roll world
You are a tall glass of Moscato
after a frenzied commute
You are sweet candy amidst
countless confectionary imposters
