how strangers become lovers

Two strangers reached for a door

As the moon smiled shyly,

And the sky nearly wept.

All because one caught a red light

And the other forgot something,

Two strangers

Revealed their strangest depths.

Two paths met at a clearing,

Intertwining for a moment,

Paralleling the rest of the way-

Always in the same direction.

Two lovers

Became strangers,

Cursed to search for each other in the lilies.

Doomed to dreams realer than reality.

Until another red light,

Another forgotten item,

Another door.

Until the edge of the moon

Peeks through the spring evening,

As the sky almost cries.

Until we meet again.
