Pride?

meaning we still don’t know

Pride?

The word we hear so often today

Our world associating the word with gay

Hashtags telling us to be ourselves

Every post, a copy of some one else

Everything popularity

We are all the same I’m just starting to see

Us humans repeating history

Re/doing genres of personality

Being ourselves has become harder

Some one else has lived your life even smarter

Why even make road maps to charter

Some one else will just use it for a starter

But what if we stopped leaving comments

We stop paying the internet our souls rents

Start giving the real world our two cents

We stop caring about our scratches and dents

Share words without actually sharing

Instead of caring about the not caring

Seams in our fake world we are tearing

Deeply lost in our phones so we keep staring

Does anyone remember real pride

Like our time as children sliding down a slide

With no help from some one on the side

And no one to see your most recent thrilling ride

Thoughts turned into actions when alone

From our imagination not a cell phone

But having self pride, down to the bone

Not just comparing ourselves to what is shown
