I am nothing, and at the same time, overflowing

How can it be so

that I can look at the stars

off into the vast ether

and be reminded

of how insignificant I am

and yet when I look at you

I see everything worth seeing

How?

How can nothing

recognize something

and attest such worth

when I have nothing to give

like an empty glass

faced with an ocean

I am nothing

and at the same time

overflowing

full of you.

If I can possibly fathom

your depths

I'd be happy to know

the dive was completely worth it.

I've been in many seas, lakes, and ponds

but of you I'm particularly fond

and ready to drown in your waves

so refreshing I might just get

a breath of fresh air.
