Might I suggest that you google
the mathematical likelihood to be born
and knowing that you are alive
wouldn't you feel honored to be here
a chance to sweep the world
with a single thought
take a shot at the heavens
maybe raise a little hell
gifted a chance to
read of minds from ages past
follow in the footsteps of leaders
you are the legacy of two
a man and a woman
who might've loved each other
that've been forced upon each other
that's made a mistake
but here you are
humanity's parting gift to the world
and yet you sit here concerning yourself
with meaningless things like
who texts first
who dm'ed who
who's disloyal to who
what bridge should I burn
i hope you know how to swim
once you realize you are neck-deep in distraction
i like to call it gasoline
don't you want more out of life
than to have a sense of security
your money doesn't belong to you
even your life doesn't belong to you
don't you want to
change someone's life
push society forward
or change the world?
because i do
I really do
and because of that
you don't get to have me
you don't get to keep me
you don't get to tie me down
but you will behold me
i might be a dreamer
but that doesn't mean
that I won't
wake
up.

inspired by an old/former mindset of mine that was (and somewhat still is, although a bit more calculated about it) interested in multiple fields of discipline and collecting books. Based on a quote by Robert A. Heinlein:
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a taste meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."
You were nonexistent for a millenia before you were born, and you will be nonexistent for far longer when you're dead. Why not do more?
