Out of Sync

Sometimes fitting in is worse than standing out

I sing a song without a melody

A chorus without a choir

I’m a band without instruments

A DJ without a crowd

I even sing without a sound

The lyrics never leave my head

The words don’t always make sense

I play a different tune depending on my mood

I practice from sun to moon

But my music is never ready

And my song will never die

My lungs breathe like a symphony

Every day I write new lyrics

I live to the beat of my own drum

I may be offbeat, but I create my own rhythm

This wasn’t the tune I was given but the melody that I make

I dance to my own songbook

Some days I’m instrumental

One day I’ll be an orchestra
