...Old Man...
I loved my grandfather and this poem is about him. It's the only way I could honor him.
.....................OLD MAN.....................
A wise man once told me,
And I laughed!
You know me not old man!
No matter how much you try,
No one can!
So I walked,
And talked,
And made my way..
I remember to this day.
A wise old man could only shake his head.
He walked away.
Wisdom is commodity rare..
Requires merely ears..
And air.
If there is none left to listen, In the quiet
Only tears remain and glisten..
Tell me, Old Man...
Of that patch of gray
Upon your head..
What's left over from days long dead?
Every hair earned,
Lessons learned,
Children raised,
Goals praised.
And what about that other gray patch there?...
Mijo? Do you really care?
I do, Papa...I do!
Today the world is crazy,
Was it also then a zoo?
So he told me..
Shared with me..
Told me how to live,
How to love,
How to give.
The travails,
Jails..
Walks and talks about all he knew..
Not just some,
Yes..quite a few.
I saw his face, his looks, his scars..
In the wrinkles,
His many wars.
His story written in his eyes,
Made me happy..
Before he said goodbye............Papa,
He is gone now.
A wise man once told me,
And I laughed!
And I smile...
You knew me well old man!
PEACE
